On April 5th, 2019 we welcomed Mason Wayne Bailey to our family. After a few weeks, we knew something wasn't right with our little guy. We'd completed multiple tests and scans before deciding to get genetic testing. On January 2nd, 2020 we found out Mighty Mason had Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood (AHC). This horrible 1 and 1,000,000 disorder caused paralysis, seizures, dystonia, autonomic dysfuncation affecting his oxygen saturation levels to drop, body temperature changes and heart arrhythias. We learned to shelter ourselves to protect Mason from being overstimulated. Although we sheltered ourselves, we wouldnt change it for the world because Mason and his older sister Madelynn were our world. 

On October 5th, 2023 our world was shattered when our Mighty Mason finished his race and crossed the line to meet our Mighty Savior. There are still many AHC warriors fighting their fight daily, parents in the trenches struggling to understand, and a community fighting relentlessly to end AHC. Please join all of them in this journey as we all fight to find a cure!

Through research, education, and family support, we have ONE MISSION: END AHC.

Through these three pillars of our mission, the AHC Foundation works to provide our community support and hope as we all move through this journey. Funding RESEARCH from small studies to gene discovery, to collaboration on landmark gene therapy that holds much potential; providing EDUCATIONAL resources to families through support groups, introductions to physicians, and our website; SUPPORTING FAMILIES through our support group, biennial family meetings, and availability of volunteers for crisis; are all ways the AHC Foundation works to END AHC.
